I have been in the fire suppression and tree work business since 1990. I began my career with the U.S. Forest Service. I spent 13 years working for the Forest Service after which I decided to become an independent contractor. In 2004 I started Elkhorn Fire & Fuels Management, LLC. During my years with the Forest Service I obtained numerous fire qualifications including: Incident Commander (ICT3), Task Force Leader (TFLD), Strike Team Leader (STLD), Engine Boss (ENGB), Crew Boss (CRWB), Prescribed Fire Burn Boss (RXB2), as well as many others. I was also certified as an unlimited faller with the Forest Service.

Since 2004 Elkhorn Fire has worked with government agencies to make defensible space an integral part of the planning process in Southwest Montana. My company has written county wildfire protection plans, worked closely with defensible space grant administrators and has been directly responsible for treating hundreds of timbered properties within the urban interface areas. My extensive background in wildfire suppression and burning in combination with my knowledge of forestry practices sets me apart from other independent contractors in the business.
